After having multiple failures at treatment, sometimes there can be some challenges. Although we do everything in our power to use a patient's own gametes, a physician may be unable to use the female partner’s eggs or the male partner’s sperm.
However, not all is lost. Hope comes in the form of third-party reproduction. Third-party reproduction is the use of eggs, sperm, and/or embryos that have been donated by a third person to allow an infertile person or couple to become parents.
Another option of third-party reproduction is the use of gestational carriers or surrogates.
In addition to assisting those with infertility, Third-party reproduction is also commonly used by single women and same-sex couples who wish to be genetically related to their child.
