In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

In Vitro Fertilization is the most common treatment we do at Generation Next Fertility. It takes place over the course of one menstrual cycle (or more). In this treatment, eggs are removed from the ovaries, fertilized with sperm, and grown in a lab for a few days. After this, the embryos are either freshly transferred into the uterus or frozen to be transferred at a later date.

During an IVF cycle, various medication protocols are used to produce as many high quality eggs as possible for each patient. Each medication protocol is custom tailored to the patient.

Understanding IVF

Your treatment plan is as unique as you are, which is why we provide innovative and custom-tailored IVF. At Generation Next Fertility, we take into consideration all the factors that go hand-in-hand with maximizing success: personal preferences to ensure a high standard of care, the role of age on reproductive health, common fertility problems such as Diminished Ovarian Reserve or Endometriosis, your response to medication protocols to maximize your chances of success, coupled with cutting-edge reproductive technologies.

Whether your body is best-suited for Traditional IVF, or perhaps is a better candidate for a more innovative, low-dose approach – such as Natural IVF or Mild IVF – all of our treatments are based on the latest research and technologies, with an emphasis on achieving individual results.

Crafting the perfect treatment plan is a collaborative and comprehensive process, and we’ll be there with you every step of the way.

Natural IVF Treatment is a fertilization process that requires less medications and injections than traditional forms of IVF.

Mild IVF Treatment is a similar process but uses a mild dosage of drugs to help with fertility.

Traditional IVF Treatment uses high stimulation that’s designed to help couples overcome issues of infertility.

Ovarian Stimulation

The first step of IVF treatment is Ovarian Stimulation. During this phase, most protocols utilize medication that encourages the ovaries to develop multiple follicles, each of which may contain an egg. Typically, more follicles lead to more eggs which lead to more embryos, which leads to a higher possibility of success.

Ovarian stimulation typically begins around day 3 of a cycle. Stimulation usually involves taking daily injectable medications for around ten days and will be followed closely with monitoring appointments, although the dosage, frequency, and type of medications are subject to change according to your personalized IVF treatment plans.

When follicles reach the appropriate size, a final “trigger” medication will be used to induce ovulation and promote final maturation of the eggs.

Egg Retrieval

The next step is the Egg Retrieval: a minor outpatient procedure done to collect the eggs from the ovaries. Conducted 35-36 hours post-trigger injection, it’s pivotal for synchronizing optimal egg maturity with retrieval.

Our expert medical team, utilizing advanced techniques, gently aspirates eggs directly from each ovary and are then meticulously prepared for fertilization. The procedure’s efficiency is influenced by factors such as age, individual health history, specific fertility diagnosis, ovarian reserve, and your body’s response to the fertility medications administered earlier in the cycle.

Sperm Collection

Sperm Collection is a straightforward procedure, typically scheduled to coincide with the day of the egg retrieval, involving obtaining a sperm sample for fertilization purposes. Our clinic facilitates this process in a comfortable and private setting, ensuring optimal conditions for sample collection.

Here, we assess sperm count, motility, and morphology to select the highest quality sperm for the subsequent fertilization of the retrieved eggs. The quantity and quality of sperm collected are influenced by various factors, including individual circumstances, medical history, and response to any prescribed medications.

Fertilization Methods

Following egg retrieval and sperm collection, the two are combined in our state-of-the-art laboratory to facilitate fertilization. This process is meticulously conducted by our skilled embryologists using either Conventional Insemination, Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), or Physiological Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (PICSI), depending on the specific requirements of your case.

The success of this stage is monitored closely, with the aim of achieving healthy, viable embryos ready for the next step in your IVF journey. Our team keeps you informed with updates on the development and quality of the embryos, ensuring you remain an integral part of the process.

Embryo Development

Embryo Development: Following successful fertilization, the embryos embark on a critical growth phase under the vigilant care of our embryology team. This period spans from day 3 to day 5, during which embryos evolve through key developmental stages – from the 8-cell stage to the more advanced blastocyst stage.

If an embryo is grown to a blastocyst, it can undergo genetic testing. This is recommended on a case-by-case basis.

Embryo Transfer

The last step is the Embryo Transfer. This procedure is the culmination of all prior steps, where the developed embryo is poised for implantation into your uterus.

The transfer process is meticulously performed with utmost precision and care. A fine catheter, containing the embryo(s), is gently guided through the cervix and into the uterus. Here, the embryo(s) are carefully deposited, with the goal of achieving implantation and initiating pregnancy.

Any remaining embryos that are not transferred can be frozen and used for embryo transfers at a later date.
