LGBTQ+ Paths to Parenthood

Fertility care is about helping people make informed choices about their bodies, their timelines, and their futures, regardless of who they are or how they envision their family. Some patients come to us with a clear plan. Others come with questions, uncertainty, or simply a desire to understand their options. All of those starting points are valid.

At Generation Next Fertility, we work with LGBTQ+ patients as part of the full spectrum of reproductive care. Our focus is on giving you clear, accurate information about what’s available, what it involves, and how different paths to parenthood can align with your goals: so you can decide what makes sense for you, without assumptions or pressure.

Did you know that around 18 % of LGBTQ+ adults in the U.S. are parents? That’s 2.6 million people!

I would like to...

Fertility Testing

Fertility testing is often the first step for patients who want clear, personalized information about their reproductive health: whether they’re planning for the future, navigating hormonal or medical changes, or simply want to understand what their body currently supports. We tailor testing based on your goals and your anatomy.

Fertility Testing may be helpful if you:

  • Want a baseline understanding of your reproductive health
  • Are considering pregnancy now or in the future
  • Have been on hormone therapy or are planning gender-affirming care
  • Are navigating age-related changes or a medical condition that may impact fertility
  • Have been trying to conceive and want insight into what might be affecting the process

Testing Typically Includes:

  • Evaluation of ovulation and egg reserve
  • Uterine and ovarian ultrasound imaging
  • Hormonal testing for fertility markers
  • Semen analysis when relevant to your path to parenthood

Fertility Preservation

Fertility preservation allows patients to safeguard options for the future without having to decide now when, how, or even whether they want to have children. The right choice depends on your goals, your circumstances, and how you want to maintain control over future decisions. Our role is to help you understand what freezing can and can’t offer, so you can decide whether it makes sense for you!

Egg freezing preserves unfertilized eggs, allowing you to decide later how and with whom to use them.

Embryo freezing involves fertilizing eggs with sperm (from a partner or donor) before freezing, which may offer different success rates and legal considerations.

A note on sperm freezing: At this time, we do not offer on-site sperm freezing. Patients looking to preserve sperm are typically referred to a licensed sperm bank, where long-term storage and handling are managed as a specialized service. We’re happy to coordinate with outside facilities when sperm preservation is part of your broader family-building plan.

Fertility Preservation may be helpful if you:

  • Are not ready to pursue pregnancy now but want to maintain future options.
  • Are undergoing or considering hormone therapy or gender-affirming care
  • Want to delay family building due to personal, professional, or financial timelines
  • Are planning medical treatments or surgeries that may impact fertility.
  • Prefer to make reproductive decisions on your own schedule

Fertility Treatments

For many people today, becoming pregnant happens with medical support from the very beginning. Assisted Reproduction Treatments (ART) can help coordinate timing, hormones, and cycles to support pregnancy, help an egg and sperm meet when they wouldn’t otherwise, allow for conception to happen using donor sperm or eggs, and support partners who want to share biological or gestational roles.

Timed Conception

Medical monitoring and guidance to help identify ovulation and time conception attempts more accurately, often used when cycles are irregular or when patients want structured support before moving to procedures. Learn More!

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Sperm from a partner or donor is introduced into the uterus around ovulation to improve the chances of fertilization, commonly used when timing, sperm access, or cervical factors make conception more difficult. Learn More!

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

Eggs and sperm are combined outside the body and resulting embryos are transferred to the uterus, used when conception needs closer medical support or when other approaches have not worked. Learn More!

Reciprocal IVF

One partner provides the eggs while the other carries the pregnancy, allowing partners to share biological and gestational roles in conception. Learn More!

Mild & Natural IVF

IVF approaches that use lower medication doses or natural cycles, appropriate for some medical situations or for patients who prefer less hormonal stimulation. Learn More!

Donor & Carrier Services

Conception using donor sperm, donor eggs, or a gestational carrier when pregnancy involves support beyond one partner’s body. Learn More!
