Lupron Medications
What is Lupron?
In a nutshell, Lupron is used to cure endometriosis and fibroids, and for IVF, it is used as a trigger and to help regulate the reproductive system. There are multiple types of Lupron. These are the possible effects Lupron can have.
Endometriosis and/or fibroids can be difficult to deal with. They can cause infertility. However, there is a medicine that can treat them. Lupron medications work by obstructing the signals (FSH and LH) that the brain sends to the ovaries in the uterus. The ovaries in the uterus produce estrogen. Estrogen is a hormone that causes endometriosis and fibroids to grow. With Lupron, you can shut down estrogen production.

Lupron can also be used to help in the IVF process. If Lupron is given, it initially cause a burst of FSH and LH. However, if it is given everyday, it can cause the FSH and LH production in a patient to stop.
It will block eggs from producing, growing, and ovulating. Now, you can gain much greater control over the patient’s reproductive system. By eliminating the body’s own control, you can now use direct FSH and/or LH to stimulate the eggs to grow and produce ovaries enough but not too much that they ovulate.
Finally, at the decided time to collect the eggs, you can use the initial burst of FSH and LH from Lupron to cause the eggs in the uterus to ovulate.
How do Lupron medications work?
Lupron is injected into your skin or muscle. Injections of Lupron medications are limited to 6 months per injection. Your medical provider will instruct you on what type of Lupron you should use.
