Traditional Protocol

Traditional IVF is a form of in vitro fertilization that’s designed to help couples overcome issues of infertility. With approximately 1 in 6 couples experiencing issues of infertility at some point in their lives, traditional IVF can be the only way for some couples to conceive a child. Individuals may consider traditional IVF if the woman has badly damaged fallopian tubes or has suffered multiple miscarriages. This may also be a desirable option for couples using donor sperm or eggs, and those with male or unexplained fertility issues.

What Does Traditional IVF Involve?

The process usually begins with a thorough analysis to attempt to determine why conception has been difficult. Once the couple or individual has been approved, both the egg and sperm cells will be collected (a donor sample may instead be used). These cells are then fertilized in our state-of-the art laboratory to create an embryo, which is then cultured for several days under optimal conditions.

Once the embryo has developed into a healthy state, it will either be implanted in the woman’s uterine cavity or frozen for future use. Finally, the healthiest embryo will be inserted into the uterus. Throughout the process, the woman will need to take medications or receive a series of injections that may affect their natural menstrual cycle.

Why Choose Traditional IVF

For some women and couples, traditional IVF may be the best option in terms of conceiving a child. Those that have trouble conceiving may want to consider traditional IVF as an alternative to natural conception. Traditional IVF does not guarantee success among patients, but the procedure can increase the chances of success for some individuals.
